Market Report - Feb 2011 - update

Dear Fruit Box Customers,

As we move into our second week post Cyclone Yasi, we have put together a refreshing Summer menu catering to all tastes.

Bananas are fortunately still presenting themselves as a Fruit Box item. Pre-cyclone banana stocks are almost exhausted and as a result you will notice a smaller fruit as well significantly reduced quantities in your office fruit delivery menus. As market prices progressively rise due to depleted supply, bananas will remain a week-to-week proposition and will be included depending market availability. It is highly anticipated that over the coming weeks bananas will be taken out of our menus and replaced by other items.

If you would like to keep including bananas as part of your menu once they are no longer a standard item, please contact our customer service team and we will endeavour to bring you the best produce available at market prices.

New season apples are slowly filtering through the markets. Royal Gala and Golden Delicious have joined the summer mix while Granny Smith apples have been taken out of menus. New season Granny Smith will appear back in our office fruit delivery boxes within 1 -2 weeks while Red Delicious and Jonathans will be included as quality produce start filling market stands. Red apple quantities will gradually increase as new season produce continue to enter the markets.

Joining our stone fruit selection are delicious Clingstone Peaches. The Clingstone will sit alongside white and yellow flesh peaches and nectarines and will take us through to the end of the stone fruit season. Mouth-watering juicy plums will also continue to fill our boxes over the ensuing weeks.

Kiwi fruit and oranges are staple Fruit Box items in your weekly fruit delivery and have recently been joined by William pears which are adding some extra crunch to our office fuit menu. Passionfruit are being included pending quality and availability whilst also filling our boxes are delectable green seedless grapes. Firm and great quality, grapes are a refreshing added item that will be enjoyed over the next few months helping to add variety and taste to our boxes.
